It’s Easy Being Green: Exploring Sustainable, Eco-Friendly Cleaning

Looking for a commercial cleaning company that’s good for you—and the environment?

“Eco-friendly” isn’t a passing fad or trendy tagline for Jidan Cleaning. Sustainability is embedded in everything we do—from product choices to cleaning procedures. What’s more, our commitment to earth-conscious, biodegradable initiatives leads to stringent sanitation, safe disinfection, and closely regulated emissions.

Let’s discuss “going green”—our standardized best practices and how they stack up against traditional means of decontamination and purification.

Sustainability vs Accountability

Harsh chemicals can leave a room sterilized but at a high cost to people, plants, and pets. The following agents are found in many common disinfectants, soaps, and detergents:

  • Benzalkonium Chloride
  • 2-Butoxyethanol
  • Nonylphenol Ethoxylate
  • Isothiazolinone
  • Phthalates

Compounds like these have been linked to health problems such as asthma, lung irritation, and even cancer. Extremely dogged, it can take years before potential allergens dematerialize across water supplies and topsoil.

The good news?

Plenty of non-toxic (and less expensive) alternatives exist and comprise a sizable portion of our flagship services. We recommend all-natural cleansers:

  • Hydrogen Peroxide: disinfects, fights mold, and removes stains
  • Distilled White Vinegar: eats away germs and mold on contact
  • Baking Soda: absorbs odors and removes surface grease and grime
  • Essential Oils: emanate antibacterial, antiseptic, and antifungal properties

We can use an array of eco–friendly cleaning formulas at virtually any facility (i.e., hospitals, schools, warehouses, and offices). Our sustainable methods kill nearly 100% of transmittable bacteria. This affords a space free of lingering residue as well as harsh aerosols and airborne-prone pathogens.

Sustainability in Action: Zero Waste and Zero Haste

At Jidan Cleaning, we’re also conscious of our carbon footprint.

We reduce waste by:

  • Changing trash can bags and wastebaskets only as needed: when odorous and dirty, compromised, or at capacity
  • Reusing microfiber cloths instead of paper towels; loosening dust and dirt without the aid of heavy chemicals; and spreading fewer germs and bacteria than cotton rags

We reuse materials by:

  • Laundering cloths and mop heads after every use instead of daily disposal (microfiber materials withstand an average of 200-300 washes)
  • Administering staff-led, eco-friendly policies, like investing in a water cooler alongside BPA-free water bottles and tumblers

We recycle products by:

  • Purchasing sustainably sourced recycled materials and packaging; trash liners, for instance, of at least 20 percent PCRC (post-consumer recycled content)
  • Donating non-biodegradable cloths to the Salvation Army and Goodwill, repurposed as insulation and cushioning (while skirting polluted landfills)

Other Ways We Reduce Our Carbon Footprint:

  • Minimizing the use of energy, water, and other resources during hygienic cleanings
  • Maintaining regulatory certifications from the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) and the Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association
  • Following all stipulations regarding Hazardous Substances and Waste, per U.S. environmental law (42 USC Sections 6901-6976)
