Electrostatic Disinfection:
Fight Germs and Viruses with High Touch Point Cleaning

Electrostatic Disinfection:Fight Germs and Viruses with High Touch Point Cleaning

Electrostatic disinfection… you can’t see it, you gotta feel it, it’s shocking. It’s electric! Boogie woogie, woogie!

You know what else is shocking? Contagions sliding across hard-to-reach areas in your school, facility, or place of business. That really puts the “Boo!” in Boogie.

All sorts of bacteria, build up, and creepy contaminants leave high touch surfaces vulnerable to viruses. So, if you’re a Facilities Manager, Compliance, or Safety Officer, here’s how to fight influenza and Covid-19—with a little electro-shock.

What is Electrostatic Disinfection?

Maybe you feel like a Ghostbuster battling sticky green plasma (a.k.a. infectious goblets). Is it time to grab your proton pack? In the pandemic era, many experts think so.

Electrostatic Disinfection is an antimicrobial spray-on solution. It coats a large swath of nonporous surfaces. Just think of a painter who can apply primer— within minutes—using an airless sprayer. In this case, however, positively charged droplets act like a spider, catching negatively charged pathogens in its web.

Instead of wiping or dusting germs, this hospital-grade disinfectant kills the “bad stuff” with a wet sealant (note: commercial strength solvents and safety guidelines may vary).

Electrostatic sprayers are lifesavers, quite literally:

  • Reducing time… disinfection need not cost hours.
  • Preventing cross-contamination… stops the dread of the spread.
  • Ensuring liability… all nooks and crannies are evenly sterilized.

Should you choose to deep clean, these EPA precautions are a must.

What are High Touch Points?

High touch points are objects or zones that attract high-traffic bacteria through repeated human contact. Areas and rooms have different high touch points depending on how the space is used and by whom.

High Touch Point Cleaning: A Checklist

You should consider disinfecting, in addition to cleaning, shared spaces when they are:

  • Highly trafficked
  • Poorly ventilated
  • Occupied by immunocompromised people
  • Reported illness infects an employee

First, check the efficacy of your cleaning solutions.

The EPA compiled a list of disinfectants to reduce the risk of infectious germs throughout your facility. They have also taken action to ensure the availability of disinfectants during supply shortages, in addition to keeping fraudulent products off the market.

Second, consider leaving it up to the pros.

Hiring a commercial cleaning company for routine work can ease your mind, so you don’t have to be in that scary situation yourself.

Jidan Cleaning offers an array of services that will both clean and disinfect your spaces, leaving time and energy for you to focus on other things. Our advanced capabilities combat bacteria, mold, viruses, and other damaging organisms before they become costly issues.  As mentioned earlier, electrostatic disinfection is a professional cleaning method that uses 360-degree disinfecting power to sanitize entire rooms and surfaces.

If you decide to tackle your own daily and weekly cleaning routines, starting with heavily trafficked zones and objects are important.
